Default BIN


Can anyone post the default BIN file ? I had it, before I formated my pc..

Why is it you always think you have backed up everything and in the end you miss so much ? lol

I don't know that there is a default.bin file. There is a game.bin file in the language.pff

For use with Standard DFX Coops.

Waypoint names, win/lose conditions, win/lose messages are NOT transfered over the net, and should be left "As Is"..

You can see where I have written in the briefing, these work over the net, just change them.

Named Locations, PeopleNames, AI names DO work over the net if you do NOT have the bin file.

We have at WTF a default DFX .bin file download that includes the 2 types of .bin and both the bin2txt and txt2bin tools also it has a readme that explains customizing the win/lose and other stuff that is not sent over the net and only viewable if you have the .bin itself. basicly tells how to customize it to where your squad can have the .bin but not make the map confusing if you dont have it.

heres the readme:

with the same number you chose, STRWINCOND004 = "Reach Final Waypoint";

004 at the end of name before the = and edit that line to whatever
coresponds to what you edited your line to. The same holds true for the
lose conditions

I would highly suggest picking a generic condition that says what you
want done such as changing "Destroy Technicals" to "Destroy Radar dishes".
This would be for COOP so that way if someone doesnt have the .bin they
will still know what they need to do.

As you can see the only part you modify is between the Quotes. Changing
any other part will make the file unusable.

For Locations you will need to add a map named location marker to your map
in the middle of what you want named, and open its Attributes. In the bottom
right corner there is the "Area Info" box next to "Name" is a box with "0"
in it. If you are using the first location leave this at 0 for more locations
change to the number at the end of LOCATION001 in this case it is 1 that
would be your number. you can add more locations as well

LOCATION001 = "Pisang Palau";

to:

LOCATION000 = "Objective Breeze";

For AI Names you will also need a wac script for it to work but the .bin
side is just like the location except you name the AI in the WAC and not MED.

As with .wac scripts the .bin must be named the same as your mape file for it
to work.

And now that you have modified your file you open the TXT2BIN.exe find the
.txt file you just modified and hit convert, put the new .bin file in with the
map and enjoy!

If you accidently lose your .txt version of the bin and need to edit, use the
BIN2TXT.exe thats included in the zip.


EE's way of getting the names to show is easier, so i suggest using it. and im going to add that as well as the wac script.

Hey EE if you have any suggestions on this file it will be greatly apreciated, download add yer part then send to me and ill add it to WTF. I think this may be a real good tool for mapmakers.

People Names are the names you give friendly AI eg EE or Tom etc you place on the map. You can then set the Name number you allocated to an AI in the AI attributes.

AI Names not to sure on as I always use People names.
