Helicopters/Taxi..New and Willing
Hi Everyone.
I am new to map making and like it..
I have read to my eye's have bled trying to crack this one.
I have been trying to find a way of making a Helicopter work as a taxi.
Start,,WP0 go to WP 4 ,, LAND,,,wait,,then TAKE OFF.
Return to WP0,,,LAND and then loop for the duration of the game.
I can make the wretched thing land,,,but from then on,,NOTHING.
I know it can be done,,I have palyed on a map where this has worked.
I'm sure this is old hat,,but I cannot find it and thats why I'm asking for your help.

Geez, you mean I have to reinstall DF2 to figure this one out...LOL..
I know I did this in DFLW....I'll have to take a look..

Thats a lot of effort,,and very much appreciated.
If its easier for you..maybe attach the .mis file,,and that would help me work it out too.

God's Holy Trousers,,,,You guys are way in front,,some of the stuff I have just read on the TXP site is awsome,,brain damaging,,high end
programing.
I have found your You tube video,,DFX/JO,,B/Hawk from BHD.
What you got that copter to do is fantastic.
But I have a nasty suspicion,,that the DFBHD and the MEDS I have,, 2.01 and the _i versions could put humpty together at all...if yer follow.
I dunno,,maybe to tell me all this stuff would entail too much to do,,,too much to learn,,even with the right tools,,but maybe you can tell me if its
possible with the tools I have ,,or I'm asking too much.
By the way,,,a fallen warrior,,is always a tragedy,,,you have my upmost sympathies in the passing of your friend.

Most of the info you need to map is avilable here, or at DFBarracks, if not, we usually find out, by doing it ourself.
I have reinstalled DF2, but, it's so different from BHD, DFX and JO, that so far, I can't even get the helo off the ground..LOL...been a long time
since I booted up the 43a Med..
So, "give me just a little more time".. (What a great name for a Kylie Minogue Song !!!).. and I'll let you know..
The Black Hawk I imported was just a one piece model plus the mapped texture, (and about half the poly's where inverted), I had to fix it, cut it up
into pieces, plus add a heap of control points, made the blades rotate the right direction, sat the pilot on the "Right" seat, and added the moving
tail..
I think it's pretty cool myself..
As for Doc, well, we all suffer every day, we all owe him so much, we'll fly a missing man formation every year in our server for him. He will never
be forgotten, he's still a part of our lives, and I wouldn't have it any other way..

Well Eagle Eye,,,in a way you were right about the info...lol
What I found on your site was a BMS to MIS converter.
I was given a BMS with the copter / taxi in it and converted it to .MIS
Studied it,,ripped it apart,,rebuilt it and never once reached for the vallium.
It took a while,,but,,I did it..I got the copter to act as a taxi.
I also learned a hell of lot of things on the way too,,groups,,,,waypoints,,triggers and just how deep that little program is.
Thank you for the inspiration and making go forward and best of luck with your new project.
I did change my profile as you asked and put in my age,,,oh,,and my whereabouts too,,,(hope I ain't too old for you all..lol)

30 years,,,judas priest,,thats a lot of gaming....loll
I live on the Isle of Wight but I'm Surrey / London,,,had to leave,,,the rat race turned in to a lunatic asylum,,so I fled...loll,,living happily
ever after with a lathe,,a Harley,,and penchant for low end programing,,(as in pond life).
I have just found another fun subject,,,,FAST ROPING.
But I gather this can't be used Multiplayer...so I think I'll give that learning curve a miss.

Hey Rat, sorry I haven't replied sooner, been busy with the SGMod Med pics and stuff..
Well now, that puts you in the "Old Man" class like myself an Derek..LOL..we may be Grey, and or getting thin on top, but you can't keep a good man
down they say..
There's a wealth of info here, and at DFBarracks, but, anything you need to know, just ask mate..
Sometimes I wish I could stand in front of a lathe all day, down in my shed, but, no retirement for me yet..
