Attach AI - No Events


Reseach Ice & EE 02 OCT 07

Attaching AI to Vehicle no longer needs event.

Select AI, edit item attributes.

1. Waypoint list 125 goto any

2. Number is the ssn number of the Vehicle to attach to, in this example, we attach to ssn3

Also works for JO

Dicovered using a beta bms to mis for DFX and JO, we converted a Standard DFX Coop, not very well, but enough to find this..

Absolutely, we where looking at the Coop, and found there where no events to attach AI to vehicles, so we looked a little further, and found this..

ps.. this is why it's important we have a working bms to mis..it's such a valuable learning tool..

Bugger those who think it's for ripping other peoples maps, they are just narrow minded..

I just tested this out, and it works well. My only questions are these, does this help to reduce lag? Or is it just an easier way to achieve the same results by not using events?

Idea


I had an idea where this is concerned, so I checked it out. The idea was to attach eight of the good guys to eight of the enemy tanks, I wondered what would happen.

I figured they might try to attach themselves but that once the tanks were in range they'd shoot at them. If it had worked out that way, it would've been really cool. Because it would have made the AI look like they were changing direction, and appear more intelligent. As the tanks they were going to attach to were on the move.

Unfortunately all they did was stand in one spot, they still attacked when the enemy got near they just didn't move. A pity.

Ah ah


After experimenting a bit further I realised why it won't attempt to attach to the enemy tank. It's because the tanks already full with Enemy AI, and to confirm that I placed a bike over at the enemies camp and attached the friendly AI to it. Sure enough off it went across the battle field.

I thought of taking an Enemy AI away from the tank, but all that does is stop the tank from moving as it's waiting for the last occupant.

All in all


This does give you one thing that you never had before. You can now get your men across a battle field without waypoints. I mean you know that your friendly soldier isn't going to make it across, so you have no worries about there being a dozen AI all milling around a chair or some other object.
