total newbie in ireland help needed hosting

total newbie in ireland help needed as regards hosting

hi, you have probably answered this a gazillion times

but you might be able to help me

i want to host games for my sons and their friends

so i did a trial run....

i get as far as hosting the game and its listed on password games no prob

but my son tries to log in on the laptop next to me and
he gets as far as the joining window and it hangs

so i guess its something im doing by in hosting,i turned off the norton internet security package & the windows XP security which i thought might be preventing him from logging in ,try again and no avail

he hangs on the joining game window
(noteworthy point he has no difficulty joing other games on novaworld)

what am i missing?
the line is a 2mb broadband line provided by eircom.net
netopia router
2.8ghz celeron HP pc
gig of ram

plus how do i cycle maps???

any help much apprecaitted

help

I had the same problem awhile back with my wife joining, the problem was the router, having the same ip would not allow her to join in any nova game I hosted.
I would guess your problem is the same and the cure we found was two seperate internet connections. not sure but I don't believe enabling the DMZ even changed it.
Not much help I know but your not alone in that problem :)

Isnt there a joiner for TFD like the one for DFLW, if not try the DFLW one. Ozferal can explain better than i on how to use it.

I was right there is one. install that to your sons computer and he should be able to join. oh be sure to backup the htm files in the game directory before running it.

You get yourself sorted DakotaDan?

To use a joiner/pinger you have to use the internal IP address of the host computer on the network.

Oh and can you send us some spuds?? Apparently we are going to pay gold for them soon because of this bl**dy drought :E
